Post Upcoming R390X
take it with a grain of sault

http://www.techspot.com/news/58059-leak ... -390x.html

but if it's any indication, it's certainly a welcome sign in terms of cooling. if it also means that for the first time, i won't have to mod my own after market cooling for the GFX, and that'll be really nice.

If it's like the 295X2, you'll still need to replace the whole cooling setup. It was paired to an AIO solution, not really ideal for people with custom loops.

i am not going to use custom loop for the video card. the AIO solution from the 295X2 and that of Arctic Cooling were good enough to keep it under 65c. which leaves plenty of headroom for overclocks.

Post Re: Upcoming R390X
i recently picked up a 290x Tri-X from Sapphire. after picking up Witcher 3, i thought it was really time to upgrade the good ol 7950. i can't believe the deal i got on the 290x. $299 with a $20 rebate, which brings it down to $279.

i know the 390x is just about to be announced. but i really thought about it and decided that i wouldn't be able to afford the launch price anyway, neither want to. in fact, i decided that from now on. i am going to buy the latest of last gen for cheap 1.5 year later. so i am going to wait 1.5 year for the 390x to become so affordable that i won't be able to say no.

it's nuts, consider at one point the 290x was selling between $600~$1000 during the mining craze.
