Post what's after R290
anyone know what the roadmap is after R290? when will the next gen ATI cards come out.

i usually skip a generation when it comes to GPUs, so i am skipping the R290 gen.

I don't think they have any leaks yet. R9 series only just came out, and they need to do the lower end series still.

NVIDIA's Maxwell is due soon though, starting with a lower end card the 750Ti.

Generally speaking though, GPU performance hasn't had any significant gains in the past 3 years.

ya, I almost went with the R9's, but the heat and power consumption kept me away. I would have had to buy a bigger power supply to run two of those.

I had actually hoped the power consumption was related to heat dissipation, but after seeing reviews of aftermarket cards when they finally appeared, that didn't seem to be the case.

i actually had to upgrade my 600 watt PSU to 850 when i got my HD7950 and started overclocking it right away. for days i couldn't figure out why in certain moments the system would shut itself off. lol.

i don't know... lately with all the upgrading and back to attending my PC hobby, i am starting to think about what GPU i should upgrade next. it'll definintely be the generation after R9 at the very least. my current 7950 overclocked 50% for both core and memory run at the same speed as a stock GTX680 in real world performance. it'll be hard to justify the minor 10% gain to upgrade now. not to mention i spent some dollars on an aftermarket cooling for the card, i'd like to see it pay off.

Rumour has it, the "Black Edition" Titan is coming shortly. I think it would match your car nicely ;)

And eventually, the GTX790 should come out (dual 780 or Titan cores).

AFAIK he has dual GTX780's, so 770 would be a downgrade

You are in like 3rd place ;)
