Post Bought new videocards
So I got a bonus at work, and went a little overboard, but I think I should be good for a while.

I was going to hold off until the Radeon R9 290X with custom coolers start showing up, because they seem to run so hot with the reference coolers, and who knows if that's partially to blame to the high wattage draw on them or not. But I've been looking at a pair of new cards for a while, and grabbed these at 525$ a piece on sale. I figured I can't wait forever and just pulled the trigger on these

Won't lie, a single one of these was overkill, and two is most definitely pure impulse

We need some benchies. Might have a crown a new king of the hill around here.

Nice looking rig, though.

I tried benching them last night, but my web filter was blocking the results from sending. I'm going to work on it tonight, or come up with alternate benchmarks (suggestions?).

I'm a little annoyed with newegg though.

the evga bundle for the 3 games listed below, has the part for my cards listed as eligible.
http://www.evga.com/articles/00793/

but i guess newegg doesn't have this card listed as having the game bundle, so i'm trying to deal with them, to get the 2 bundles that i'm eligible for according to EVGA, but it's not going well. Every EVGA other card has the bundle listed as being included on the newegg site except for mine it seems because i went with the 03G-P4-3784-KR part because it has the dual bios, and it's listed as having the bundle anyway according to EVGA

You bought at a really bad time man... The 780 Ti should be coming out within days and the R9 290 that launched today at $399 beats the 780 by about 5%.

What sort of resolution are you running?

Post Re: Bought new videocards
I saw the R9 290, and the performance is nice all around. but I find it still runs hot and draws more power than it should, just like the 290X, so it really doesn't interest me. and I did look at the reviews, and for the most part, looking at the performance in games that I play, the 780 was ahead.

With the 290X still going for 599 with reference coolers, and the assumption that the non-reference cards coming at some point will cost more, The 780's at 535 (525 after MIR) seemed like a decent bet.

Can't wait around for every new and better thing, or better deal. I bought what was in my range, and I'm going to be happy with it because I was tired of waiting when I've been pondering a dual card purchase for months.

Well hopefully you pickup a 4K monitor soon then to use the horsepower!

I got my eyes set on the Dell 4K monitor once it comes out and becomes somewhat affordable... That's when I'll need to replace my GTX690 :D

I don't see myself spending that much on a single monitor, ever...

mainly because I have 4 monitors, and I'm not replacing just 1. If anything I'd move to 4 2.5k monitors at some point. but right now, I'm fine. I've got all I need for monitors for teh time being

don't rain on his parade dude.... it's a nice system. and anyone would be jealous of it.

if you wait, there'll never be a good time to buy, you just have to buy it when you want it. there'll always be something cheaper and more powerful in a week or two.

I am aware of that and I did not mean to do that. I can not help but jab at overkill, which happens to be one of his trademarks, I swear
