Post GTX690 Previewed
Not surprisingly, the GTX690 was previewed tonight:
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/ha ... eview.html

Looks to be the mother-of-god of all cards ever. Dual GK104 cores with no cutting measures like previous generation dual-GPU cards. Should offer very similar performance to SLI GTX680s but in a single PCIe slot!

And I must say, the heatsink is simply stunning looking. Very industrial yet classy look.

As expected though, it comes in at a hefty price tag of $999. Basically the same price as buying 2 GTX680s...

That's got to be the sexiest looking card I have ever seen. I wonder what the PSU requirement is?
But geez $999? Seems high. I don't recall but what did previous dual GPU's debut at?

That is a damn nice card. It looks sexy, has great performance and thermals. nVidia knows this and that's the reason for the price. It is unprecedented to have the dual GPU version of a card costing twice the single GPU version. Typically I would have guessed this card would come in around $849.

Either way it's a nice card but only has a purpose if you plan on Quad-SLI.

Apparently it somehow outperforms SLI GTX680s though, even with it's lower clock speeds. I'm guessing they've tweaked and optimized the SLI bridge chip that's on the card to somehow scale better than SLI through a motherboard.

I believe reviews should be out later in the week, but I don't think there's any set date for an actual release.

I happen to be watching the movie Bandits last night with Billy Bob Thornton and they had some nifty techniques.
I know the backwoods.....I just need a getaway car driver. Interested?

I like to think of myself as a bit better driver than your average guy down on the road. I am in.

And reviews dropped today!

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/ha ... eview.html

It's interesting how PCIE2.0 vs PCIE3.0 doesn't really impact performance much. And it's also nice to finally see a dual GPU card match it's SLI equivalent and actually beat it in power consumption. Quite the impressive feat NVIDIA has accomplished.

Definitely on my "wish list"

Must be a very efficient card. It only requires a 650w psu. Although I would suggest at least an 800w. Just for headroom. Imo
