Marketing ploy?
I tend to agree. Side by side instore detailed comparison and saw no difference. None.
Only difference is on the CC statement.

here's the thing, traditionally monitors always have the hardest time producing red. and to get yellow, a monitor would mix red and green color to get yellow. but since red is the most difficult color to cover accurately (look at sRGB space) for most monitors, and we're talking like TN, PVAs. most ips monitors can produce red accurately and exceed the sRGB space.

so what this means is, since most panels are weakest when it comes to red, naturally their yellow reproduction suffers. so hence the new rgby from sharp.

as far as whether it works, several reviews have spotted the improved difference. i personally never seen it in person, and i don't know what the truest yellow should look like, i can only trust the review sites.

After reading up on the subject for days and coming away with a dumb look on my face I finally read something that makes sense. Or at least I get.
I was trying to justify the extra $500 for said quattron and 240hz vs 120hz
Lc70le847u vs lc70le640u
If I'm gonna get one I might as well get the.top dog and be done with it.

there's no difference between 240/120hz. they'll both have smooth motion capability. and you can't tell the difference between 240/120hz. both will do 3d. so i would save some money on that end. some people actually prefer watching their tv without the smooth motion setting. i know my wife does, she said it makes everything looks like soap opera. other than that, the high refresh rate is only used for 3d stereo. but again, i can't stress how important it is that 3d is dying, quick death.

the right places to spend money on is 1 Local Dimming, 2 LED, 3 Color, 4 viewing angle. 5 refresh rate <== in order.
