Ummm....maybe. ;). I just saw this last night and was curious. And how they were justifying the value of it compared to an Asus P6Z68-Deluxe which is around $100 less.

Are we looking at $100 in performance gains or the fact of the integrated X-FI and Bigfoot Killer E2100 (which seems useless IMO). Take away those 2 options and would we not have a mobo with the same performance?

The way I see it is if an X-FI is needed or wanted you could use that $100 to buy any SC you want for the Asus.

Just some thoughts.

The bottom line here is I'm looking for the best performing/stable mobo I can get. At any cost (almost) and ready for Ivy Bridge. And good sound is a must. No Realtek crap

....and in answer to your question JD, No I dont have a mobo. I was very unimpressed with that UD5. Very much so.

Honestly, I would stick to ASUS. They've implemented SB and UEFI MUCH better than Gigabyte has.

Onboard sound is never going to match an external card. Never. It's always going to have cheaper OAMPs/DACs/etc and you'll always have more noise/interference. If you look at that gold outlined area just below the I/O connectors, and compare that to a sound card. I think it's fairly obvious which is going to have the better sound ;)

I'd probably go with the Sabertooth line from ASUS since the RoG line is too expensive I'd say.

Meaning it's not as of good a quality as say, a SB X-FI card itself? Or even an Asus which I'm considering

hmm..there is no Sabertooth in the Z68 line. Unless you are assuming I'm shopping for X58
Question is between the Pro and Deluxe is about $80 or so. And the difference I personaly see in these 2 are the included USB Panel (which I dont need). And 2 more USB outputs. But as for performance they seem the same board. Correct me if Im wrong.
Plus I prefer the Intel Lan on the Pro and Deluxe

I wouldn't say Creative's card's offer the best sound quality, but still, they have way more components on them than that motherboard. My Auzentech Bravua (which likely uses the same X-Fi chip as that motherboard) has far many more components on it too.

Unless you plan to use QuickSync or SSD Caching, there's no need for the Z68 really...

I have the P8P67-PRO-B3 in my server and HTPC and they're lovely boards. Server has had 0 downtime. I don't think the Deluxe really offers anything more...

I know there's a Sabertooth P67, odd that they wouldn't refresh it with Z68 though.

I really have no preference in SC brands....as long as its CL or asus. ;). But sound quality IS a pet peeve of mine. But thats just me.

Hmmm really? I had no idea that those were the only advantages.

Thing is...I can get ANY Z68 board $80 off at Microcenter. But not the P67. So I can get the Pro for $129.99. The P67 Sabertooth would be $189.99

Meh...I should listen to you more JD. The Sabertooth seems to make more sense. I dont really need all that extra stuff the P6Z68-V/Pro/Deluxe carries. Just a stable, good OC'ing and performing board.
I was just looking at the $80 off part. I'll have to pay full price on the Sabertooth but its no biggie.

Well for the price, might as well get the Z68 PRO/Deluxe/EVO.... I surely would at that price point.

Very tempting I have to say. And for the same $80 off they have this. $139.00 after discount. Familiar with 'em?

Asrock has come quite a ways, but still I wouldn't pick them for any of my builds. For a budget build, sure why not. Hell my grandpa has a s939 Asrock board still chugging along to this day.

But still, I prefer to stick to ASUS for my systems.

Understood. And I feel the same way as far as Asus. However, let's give it a shot. I was skeptical but I spent a long night doing some homework on this particular board and it had great reviews. I kinda like the color scheme as a plus but lets see how she performs. PLus nobody in here seems to use this brand and I dont mind being the guinea pig. For $80 off I couldnt resist. All I'm doing now is waiting on my new tubing and coolant.

As per the wc fiasco? If so then yes, it's a dam money pit.

If you mean HW in general then you are spared any involvment. That monster was created several years ago.

I should have clarified that. Yes, since the water cooling bug bit you in the butt, it's now a full blown addiction by itself, huh? 8-)
