Post Need New Motherboard?
I think I have a motherboard that just got fried by lightning. The lightning struck about 4 ft. from the house (burnt tree and melted vinyl to prove it). Somehow, the power supply survived.

The motherboard power status LED comes on when the power supply is connected, but when I try to power the board up via the case push button or through the motherboard power button, nothing happens.

So, I need a good socket 775 board that won't break the bank (this is for my uncle). It also must be able to use DDR2. The dead board is a DFI P965 Infinity board, and I couldn't find another one online for a decent price.

Any recommendations?

Pix of this tree? :)

And you're sure it's not the power supply?

Well, I swapped out the power supply with a new one, and the same thing happened.

I took out the old one, powered it up by itself, and tested the voltage on all rails, and they were all stable.

I figured this would rule out the power supply as a culprit. Is there something I might be missing?

Just wanted to make sure you tried.

Either of these should do:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813128388
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813128357

Nearly the same thing. G41 is just newer and has slightly better onboard graphics.

Pray tell, what is a dorkapalooza? Pics would help tremendously.
