Post thinking about it....
been looking at an i7 upgrade over the next few weeks. mostly since my mom got a new HD camcorder so im going to hand down my quad to her to use for video encoding, and im going to upgrade so i can dual boot mac and windows at my desk.

so im thinking about this board, thoughts?

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 28498-L04B

i could care less for the onboard video, but the rest of the board seems to offer everything i need

Gigabyte's BIOS/EFI implementation is pretty shitty I hear. ASUS is the best bet, ASRock and MSI next.

And well Z77/Ivy is due in a few weeks time...so maybe you want to wait it out?

from what I gather though the gigabyte boards seem to be some of the easiest to get OSX running on....I've had great success with 3 of their boards so far, less so with asus.

But i've been eyeballing the Asus P8Z68 Deluxe gen3 i think it was as well, quite the price difference though

Well everything post LGA71156/1366 from Gigabyte just hasn't been getting the greatest of reviews. They just seem to have very flaky BIOS's lately.

But I guess for OSX, you gotta buy whatever works with that.
