Post New customer builds ...
I've convinced a customer to go with a Sandy Bridge system. Yeah!! I'll be showcasing the build in this thread. Ordered the parts on Monday and should be here by tomorrow.

It is a mid-range system, utilizing the i7 2500K processor, a Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 mobo:

8GB Mushkin Enhanced Silverline DDR3 1600 RAM (1.5v), a EVGA SuperClocked GTX-560 Ti (1GB 256-bit) video card all packed into a Fractal Design Arc Mini Black High Performance case:

He has a few hard drives that are already filled with music, pictures, and so on. There's plenty of room in this case. I may use it for my server build depending on how well this build goes.

I've also convinced him to use a Crucial M4 64GB SSD along with a 750GB Hitachi Deskstar using Intel's Smart Response Technology. Plus, with the Z68 chipset, my customer will be able to toggle between Intel's HD3000 Graphics on board the CPU and his video card using the LucidLogix Virtu GPU Virtualization.

I've never used the above mentioned parts so this will be my first Sandy Bridge build. I'm looking forward to it and I'll post pics as I go along. :handgestures-thumbup:

i like that case...i'm getting bored of my Antec 300...but i'm cheap so i'll probably keep it for my next overhaul...

I'm so out of the loop now, it's sad really...

My server is running in that case. It's functional, but far larger than it needs to be. Hopefully the next version goes on a diet.

Just a quick update ... one build is done and I am not happy with the Lucidlogix Technologies software. However, I am impressed with Intel's onboard graphics HD3000 (i5 2500K) and its supporting software.

But the nVidia GTX560Ti Superclocked is even better ... :handgestures-thumbup:

Here are the components used in one of my customer's build ...
Hitachi DeskStar 750GB SATA III HDD, Corsair M4 64GB SSD (as cache drive), 8GB Mushkin Enhanced Silverline, Intel i5 2500K

Image

The case unveiled! Plenty of room, the grommets are well placed for cable routing. The black finish is extremely well-done.

Image

The back side revealed as well. Note that the upper hard drive cage is removed. It can be reversed as well for better airflow if needed.

Image

The motherboard, processor and memory are ready for their new home!

Image

A place for everything and everything in its place. One of the easiest builds ever! I truly love this case.

Image

And finally, the completed build ... from opening the boxes to final OS install and tweaks ... about 6 hours total.

Image

As I mentioned earlier, I wasn't impressed with the Virtu Lucidlogix, but as I researched a little more, it's not as bad as I thought.
It does the switching automatically when the application calls for it. But I still prefer to have the graphics via a GPU.
The Intel Smart Response makes a huge difference! The Hitachi DeskStar is very quiet and only warm to the touch after
a stress test. I wasn't able to benchmark anything because the customer was in a hurry to get this to his place. His wife
needed it for her pictures and the son wanted to game ... I think all of them will be happy! I am!!

Afterthought:

I was not liking the stock Intel fan/cooler (who does?) so I told my customer to bring back his rig and I'll make it nice.
I put on the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus. Dropped the CPU temps down quite a bit. In addition, I took out the top 140mm
Fractal fan and put it down in the front. I then put a Silverstone AP 180mm fan up top. This fan is AWESOME for moving air!!
My customer didn't mind the extra $50 for the upgrades. Once again, I make people smile ... 8-) and I put money in my pocket!

I kinda like that case. Simple, clean looking. Not yelling out "look at me"

Well some of us don't have fancy dancy Digital SLR cameras ... :snooty:

But I did get out my tripod to get some without the flash. I get by with what I got ... (better than Comixion's camera phone though )
