 HP computers suck balls!!!
That's right!! I have a customer whose mobo/CPU died last week ... an AMD Athlon II on a shyt mATX (Pegatron?) board. I thought I had carefully looked at ALL of the connectors (F-Panel, PWR swith and 4-1 card reader) and thought, WTF ... I'll order a cheap GIGABYTE board ( GIGABYTE GA-880GM-D2H AM3 AMD 880G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard and CPU AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus 3.0GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor and throw them in the old case. Guess what? You guessed it ... NOT a chance in hell!! The MB connectors from the power switch is all on one flat connector and wouldn't fit on the new mobo. And the freakin' card reader was RIVETED in the chassis!! WTF!? Not to mention the connector, which I thought was USB 2.0 is a special 4-pin connector that wouldn't fit on anything BUT a butt-fucked HP mobo!!!

I am lucky though that I have a few cheap but efficient cases with a PSU that I can put all the stuff in and get up and running for my customer in the next day or so, but ... GEEZ, HP ... can't you stay within simple specs?

Can you tell I'm a little pissed off? :angry-screaming:

Oh the pain of it all ... (reaches for the Vicodin bottle!!) :obscene-drinkingfaded:

UPDATE: Well, I'm a little cooled down now. I knew in the back of my head that there was going to be a SNAFU with this repair. That's why I kinda figured on rebuilding it anyways, using a nice COOLER MASTER Elite RC-330-KKR1 Black SECC ATX Mid Tower w/350W PSU.

The customer's hard drive was messed up as well ... with that being the case, I had to extract all the files from the hard drive via BitZipper, (backup files were all done in .WIM ~ Windows Disk Imaging files) and then copied over from my external hard drive.

HP Recovery software was about the only thing that saved this customer's data (at least for the back-up)!!

Now I will thank JD for his supplying me own personal copy of Win7 w/SP1. It worked flawlessly!!

Now it's on to loading up the customer's programs and restoring the extracted files ... :handgestures-thumbup:

Well, the pain is long gone ... I have basically built my customer a brand new computer, restored all of his data on his existing hard drive, with a full install of my personal copy of Win7 Ultimate and made $500 bucks. Parts were under $260. Soooo ... the time to do what I did was about what it takes for me to build a brand new computer ... 4 hours. The only aggravation of course was just trying to put the new mobo into the old HP case. Never again!! :naughty:

I hate it when they put in a small ass motherboard and use a big tower, why not just use a sodding full size board anyways?? :(
