Post Steam Trading cards
is it just me or is steam a little flakey with dishing out trading cards?

I find a lot of the time ill play a game for hours an not get any trading cards at all, but then I'll play the same game for a short period, and get a card?

I played shadow of mordor the other night for a couple hours and got 4 cards (3 of which were the same, sigh), and played some more all day today and not a single card.

what's with that?

Go look at your badge progress page. it states how many cards are still available (drops) from playing the game. It is a limited number and once you hit that number you will not receive anymore drops from that game. To get more from that game you will get them from booster packs. Booster packs work according to the following...

"Once you have received all of your card drops, you become eligible for a booster pack containing 3 additional cards. Booster packs are granted randomly to eligible users as more badges are crafted by members of the community. Make sure you log in to Steam each week to maintain eligibility."

So my suspicion as to your issue is that you've already hit your drop limit for those games.

Can't say I've ever read it carefully, but i've looked it over numerous time.

I guess I must have overlooked this "Up to half the card set is dropped through game play, the other half is earned through your collecting prowess."

I still find that pretty vague, maybe it's just me

the steam trading card has got to be the most pointless feature on steam. i don't see how people would pay for a digital trading card. you would have to be really obsessed with it to pay for one. other than that, the fact that it populates based on playing the game just isn't something i care for either.

Because when you complete a deck, you get discount game coupons (or at least did). Got Serious Sam 3 90% that way.

There are also other ways to get cards without paying for them.
