Post So I just found out the hard way.
Avast sucks donkey balls. Something like 12 trojans and some serious bullshit called MS remove tool later I'm looking for a new way to protect myself. So far I got Spybot search and destroy, stopzilla, microsoft security essentials and I'm considering malwarebytes. Any other suggestions for an antivirus?

Did I say 12? I'm up to 11 with a 60% scan and that's after I removed 8. I suggest you fuckers do a full system scan with something that actually works.

*edit* Never mind about stopzilla, that shit is all false positives and most of those were cookies. Official # is 10 trojans and that ms bullshit.

I'ts going to be a long fucking day.

Is this StopZilla program legit? Never heard of it before...

Definitely recommend MalwareBytes.

And you best be keeping off Reddit ya' know. It's full of viruses and stuff ;)

Actually it's pretty weird, but I keep getting some infections while browsing reddit which MSE is picking up. I'm going back to FF with adblock.

Mind you, I finished doing two full system scans 3 hours ago and I just got hit at 11:58 while browsing /r/gaming.

NEVER! I shall adapt and overcome. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and whatnot.

Perhaps run your web browser in Sandboxie? I hear that helps greatly.

I was running google chrome for a while because that MS removal tool fucked over everything Firefox. Everything seems to be in order now, but I decided to run one full scan of MSE for good measure. All I have to say is, THIS SHIT IS FUCKING RIDICULOUS. Seriously, look how far along I am and the time elapsed.

Yeah I wouldn't say MSE scans fast by any means...its okay for real-time protection but I'd never want to sit through a scan.

And apparently it wasn't enough to stop this infection anyways...

It stopped everything once I got it. Problem was I was only relying on Avast when I got fucked.

For some reason, after reading this thread, I now have that "unprotected" feeling. :shifty:

WHY THE FUCK DOES THIS SHIT KEEP HAPPENING TO ME!?!

I wasn't even surfing porn or anything, just did a quick google image search on "celebrities without makeup" (don't ask) and BAM I'm fucked by "Windows 7 total security", I'm just going to do what I should have done from the start, disable javascript.

Too many unwatched err let me just go buy a new drive. Probably get another WD black 1TB and go with raid 0. But shit, what's up with all the crazy malware online? I don't think I've had this many problems in the last 10 years combined.

My mom had that happen to her, but I killed the Firefox process right away so nothing installed thankfully. Seems a lot of Google Images are "poisoned" so to speak.
