Post AVG 2011 update, an EPIC FAIL!
i just wanna drop by and let you guys know that if you have AVG 2011, which you probably will if you use AVG. you should avoid the latest update, or just to be safe, reinstall the program.

the latest avg program update apparently has put many Win 7 systems out of action and has already hosed two of my home computers since last night and this morning. one of them i was able to restore back and uninstall the program, the other one remains to be seen.

AVG has since came out this morning and admitted their fail, that it "may cause some win 7systems to fail to reboot". http://forums.avg.com/ww-en/avg-free-fo ... ost_133041

i've been using AVG for about 7~8 years now, or ever since they first came out. this is the first time i am having such an epic fail from them. i personally think it all has to do with their year after year feature adding, bloating scheme that eventually turned into another Northon/Mcafee. i personally prefer the slim down efficient version from the old days. nothing fancy, just a once click AVS.

are you listening avg? i am switching to AVast.

I'm glad I don't use any antivirus software :)

Instead of the usual audible "your virus database has been update" it instead will say "Avast, ye hardy computer is safe from the seadogs" or something of the sort.

after hours of tinckering. finally got my 2nd computer to work. even AVG's own fix tool didn't do the trick. i had to watch this ghetto ass youtube video of some guy who discovered a way to erase the whole AVG folder with just the win7 install disc, no hot fix no nothing.

soon as i got back into windows, i uninstalled AVG right away. goodbye AVG!!.. you bloated crap ware. not even their own hot fix tool would do the trick. this tells you how competent those guy have become through all these years.

i've since installed AVAST.

Do you guys use Microsoft Security Essential? anyone? i heard it's suppose to be really good, very lite weight and none intrusive. i am debating whether to stick with AVAST, which is what i just installed, or go with MSE. they're all free.

That's what I use, but my Windows install gets very little use. Only games.

So I'm not the best advocate.

This man speaks the truth.
I have also installed Microsoft Essentials on my cousins computer and it seems to work perfect so far.

Comodo Internet Security Premium (FREE!! I tell ya ... FREE!!) for those who think they need an anti-virus program ... I put it on all of the computers I build and I haven't had a single complaint.

i've been on the security essentials lately too. it does its job, its not intrusive, and when i tell it to ignore something, it actually does, unlike AVG i've found
