Post windows 7 + audio = fail
seriously, why does windows 7 suck so bad when it comes to audio, dam near every day i have to reboot it because audio starts the lag, it could be sitting there idle other than playing some crappy little mp3 and then it just starts to drag, WTF

i did just find a workaround to rebooting though, uninstall the drivers in device manager, and let it re-detect and reinstall them on the fly

Is this the onboard audio your are talking about or a soundcard?

soundcard, no onboard. and this is the only system i've had audio issues with in windows 7, but its my system, the one i rely on, to run around the clock and never reboot, it should just work, but its windows

Ok...which soundcard? CL by chance? I've had my many experiences with them and finally got mine working perfect. It was when I first started using W7.

ya, its a pci-e x-fi, seriously, there's no excuse for it

the USB sound card on my mac works better, USB.........USB.......i can't stress it enough......USB

let me give you an example:
PCI-e > USB
hardware based > CPU

Mac > Windows ??? i dunno about that statement......it can't be true

edit, i think i figured out the equation

(Mac + USB soundcard - CPU overhead) > (Windows + Dedicated hardware based audio card + low latency PCI-e bus)

it sounds like it's a driver issue, or the hardware is too slow to keep up with win7.

i've never had any similar problems with win7 at all. this is the 1st time i've heard of an audio lag. what type of hardwares are you running it with?

Are you using the latest drivers from CL site? They have an auto SW update program which identifies which drivers you currently have and which are available. Along with other bulky SW you don't want or need. Just wondering if maybe have tried that.

well, I updated the creative driver last night

we'll see how it goes from there. I'm not hopefully though.

i really should install SP1 soon, been avoiding it since my SLI hack is working fine at the moment, i don't want to have to redo it, not that it's hard, but I'm lazy. I don't have to fix my Linux box, or my Hackintosh, I shouldn't have to fix the windows machine either

edit// sli is working again. but the machine is up to date, we'll see if the audio still wants to fuck with me. drivers are updated, windows is updated, if it keeps it up, ill have 2 linux machines soon plus the mac and windows can lick the swass outta my crack

lol don't worry, it's a long ways from being released. Milestone builds are pre-beta.

Windows 7 SP2 is in the works too it seems. At least there's some request-only hotfixes that increase the version numbers of major system files...which we saw before SP1 came out too.

Yeah I find it odd too. I was under the impression x86 support was being dropped in Windows 8, but I guess not? It's being design to run on ARM too so maybe that's why?

There is a leaked server build out too (labelled Milestone 3) that is x64.
