Post Windows 8 Consumer Preview ISO images
I figure this should be more or less the same as the release candidate of Windows 7 so I'm posting the link to get them.
I'll tell once I have installed or run one of them. The beta went online the 17th but I figured I should post it. Enjoy.

i think the default UI is geared for tablets more than anything, it bugs me for desktop use personally

Yeah, I don't possibly see myself using this on a daily basis at my desktop. If I buy a tablet, I'll definitely run Windows 8 on it.

Likewise, I don't see how MS expects enterprise environments to ever adopt this?! Even "Server 8" has the same shitty Metro UI.

Well I'm using it as my "daily" OS now...we'll see how things go ;)

I've already become rather accustomed to it, but I still can't help but feel like it's slightly less efficient at getting to things.

It also seems that even with UAC turned off, things don't automatically run with elevated rights.

Unfortunately joining it to my domain axed my Win7 computer account, so now I won't really be able to boot Win7 without rejoining it...

The one thing that I do love is the multi-monitor taskbar. It's about damn time!

I haven't even started to mess with it yet. Maybe at some point. I played around with a previous build and didn't like it very much. I want my start button back.

Post Re: Windows 8 Consumer Preview ISO images
I played around with it yesterday a little before I went out.

My thoughts on it are this, the metro UI, fantastic for tablets and perhaps media centers. for desktop use however, not so much, its too much mouse movement for a desktop to have to click start, and then drag the cursor across the screen to get the program you want. at least for standard desktop use that is. I'm 50/50 on the UI really, depending on the application.

Things I do like....right click the "start" icon and all the most common configuration tools we use are there....the msconfig is now under administrative tools, and the startup management is built into the task manager. these are the things that strike me off hand, but i am very much liking a lot of the system configuration tool enhancements in this windows 8. again though, 50/50 on it over all.

apparently there was a reg key that re-enabled the old start menu, but that was with earlier beta's only it seems, it doesn't seem to work now. after researching a little, that key seems to re-enable remnants on win7 and kill a lot of the new win8 components in the earlier dev builds. doesn't seem to work on the latest, so i have a feeling it's going to be tough luck getting the old menu back, not sure, could be wrong

It really does seem to be geared toward tablets and media centers, I dont see myself using it as a desktop OS any time soon unless I really have too. I'd rather switch to mac or linux.....wait....i've done so already.....however even OSX lion has a similar touch style oriented launch pad now which I kind of like, but not entirely.

windows is barely a secondary os for me now days though, i use it for what i have to use it for, and for testing things, and thats about it. otherwise i use linux, or mac depending on the task
