Post In it's new home
Moved my server into it's new home today, a Fractual Design Define R3 Titanium.

Pretty good case overall, has a couple minor faults like the cable management gromets don't fit into the case tightly and thus fall out all the time. Also the side panels don't fit the greatest but it's probably also due to the fact that they're VERY heavy due to all the sound dampening material. But for $100, can't complain too much

what OS are you running? I am thinking of making a file server for the house, and was thinking of putting FreeNAS on it.

Server 2008 R2 Enterprise, though I can't say I use any of the features of it. Considering setting up a domain though...

No need to spell porn that way ... remember, this site is not censored. Other than a few times I've deleted some of Nova's posts ...

well, you know, if you back up enough peoples porn collections over the years, yours gets a little out of hand, it takes too long to sort it, so might as well just buy more storage ;)

So now that I'm running 4x Samsung F3 1TB in the RAID10, here's some benchmarks:

JD ... please explain CrystalDiskMark ... why are the two screenies the same in terms of parameters, yet the numbers are different? What exactly gave the different set of results?

One is the 1000MB test and the other is the 100MB test. Put your glasses on and look closely ;)

And I'm pretty satisfied with it Phil. Wish the read was a bit quick on non-sequential stuff, but I guess it's not a huge deal. I defrag it on a weekly basis anyhow.

Nice to hear mate :) I'm looking forward to start using my new drives, again buying things nearly a year ago and having to keep them in a box until you can get to use them isnt fun!! But still, I will look forward to the performance I'll be getting :D

OH, I beg to differ there young man! I use my rigs all the time, I just haven't used that benchmarking utility that measures disk performance.

Why should I? I know that my two 150GB Raptors in RAID 0 are fast enough for these old eyes. And when I had my SSDs hooked up ... it was almost TOO fast ... LOL

But alas, ... the R3E is getting RMA'ed and I will have to wait awhile until I get the new board ... so when I rebuild it, I'll maybe use that benchie after all to see how my two SSDs perform in RAID 0 on the new and improved Marvell SATA6G controller ...
