Although I'm pleased with my current onboard Xfi, I can't help but maybe give it a try. Besides, it's something new.

Well then I wish Asus would release something new. It's been a while.

"still burning/breaking it in but initial impressions of the sound quality are bad (muddy, flat) - far cry from the X-Fis and Audigys from yesteryears. Some properly implemented motherboard codecs might even be better."

And well you can just tell by looking at the card. There's absolutely nothing on the PCB, how do you expect to get anything decent sounding coming out of it?

You could also look at Auzentech and HTOmega, but driver support can be iffy. My Auzentech X-Fi-based Bravura works fine though.

JD, you gotta remember that he is getting quite old ... so the hearing is going downhill. He's trying to justify getting new hardware to compensate for old age ... LOL

Comix you should just output it directly to your receiver through HDMI on your video card. it's 2012... not 1991.

Whoa there big fellow ... you want to totally confuse the old geezer?! You might have to draw the old man a picture, Howard. At least I think he can still comprehend crayon drawings ... hehe.
