I love my Corsair K70. Mechanical really is the way to go, makes all the difference IMO. It's not noticeably loud unless you do a lot of typing.

I agree with JD, mechanical is the way to go. A while ago I got the cm storm quickfire with brown switches from newegg and love it to death. It puts my previous razer arctosa to shame. No flex whats so ever, sturdy construction and excellent key travel. If I would upgrade, I'll go for something with blue switches as these days I do more typing than gaming.

Huh? KBs that are chick?

yeah, if you press "A", and african chick pops up on your keyboard, and if press "F", a feisty chick will pop up, "W" a white chick will pop up, but if you press "S" whoa!!!!!.... be ready for SEX.

so going against my own suggestion, i got myself a razer blackwidow ultimate. and what do you know, one of the shift key doesn't work. as a result. i am typing to you with all lower case. yes!

this is really disappointing. i've heard many horror stories of blackwidow ultimate with inconsistant quality control, but didn't think it would be this bad.

to top it off, this damn thing is 140 bucks before tax. you would think for this kind of price razer would at least make sure that their quality is up to the standard. oh well. going back to frys to return it tomorrow.

i do have to say i like the feedback of the cherry blue, but it is pretty damn loud. not sure if the wife can stand it. also the razer green lighting effect is really cool, matches with my current razer orbweaver.

one reason why I try and stay away from "gamer" hardware. Like we discussed in another thread, its more about marketing and "cool graphics" rather than quality and price. My CM storm was under 80 after rebates and its the best keyboard i have ever had.

You can buy o-rings to put under the keycaps to reduce the noise. Granted Blue switches are noisy to begin with though...

My Reds are quiet if I type softly as they don't really require much pressure to register a key press, but since I don't have such a keyboard at work, I'm used to having to press the keys all the way down.

If I wasn't using my laptop all the time I would go back to spring loaded keys. I prefer the felt over the squishy keys.

i am going to try the Cherry MX red next. i've been looking at the Corsair K70's. but a lot of the dreaded "dead LED" complains are having me second guessing. i am hoping the yet to be released K70/K95 RGB versions will solve the dead LED problem.

i actually never really paid attention, or never really cared for mechanical switches until i got my Orbweaver game pad, which has the Cherry Blues. i really liked the tactile feedback. but as a keyboard, i think Cherry Blue might be a bit too loud for my taste. hopefully Cherry Red will be a good in-between that has good feedback but not obnoxiously loud.

Dead LED issue?

I've had my K70 since launch effectively and the LED's always on whenever my PC is. No dead LEDs here...

Post Re: Keyboard talk
ok, so i returned the keyboard and ordered it again, but this time from amazon, since it was on Labor Day sale, and i decided to use my Amex points. i also got some blue rubber o-ring along with it. and i gotta tell you, so far i am liking it a lot :) luckily this one doesn't have any defective keys like the other one.

the blue rubber O-Ring definitely cut down on the noise a lot, but the feedback is still there. :) the comparison between my Orbweaver, which is the same MXblue, but without o-ring. you can definitely tell the different in noise.
