honestly there's not much known about the HD570. you'll have to give us all a detailed impression. it's one of those short lived headphones from Sennheiser, not sure why there aren't a lot of reviews on them.

but for $20, you can't go wrong. :)

actually... they're not unknown.. they're just old. like you steve lol.

i had to look it up, but they were popular in the 90's before Sennheiser replaced it with 555, 558, 595, and 598 and 600.

definitely will have to let us know what you think. but based on initial frequency response graph, it seems like it's a lot like your current HD280 but with a more pronounced high end frequency response.

Post Re: what headphones do you all have
it's too bad that only Greg and i are the only headphone geeks here.

recently just sold the Audio Technica AD700, and bought the AD900X, awesome headphone. the "X" marks the new generation from the last AD900, which was as huge let down for me. too bright, too shrill, not enough body, too in-your-face forwardness. the AD900X refined it and fixed all that by adding more body and authority to the weight, and toned down the sibilants, and took back the forwardness a little, all while keeping the same signature wide open AT sound. suffice to say, where i would rate the AD900 as bright, the AD900X is now to me a neutral cann. it was definitely a keeper. unfortunately for a family man like me, i can only afford to own two headphones. as much as i loved the newly improved AD900x, it was in all honesty more of a side grade compare to my tried and true HD598, rather than an upgrade. so i opted to return the AD900X and use the money i sold the AD700 for, and the money i sold the FIIO E17 dac/amp to help fund a real upgrade. dan dan dan!!!!.. ready!!!? a quintessential Sennheiser HD650. the all time classic audiophile cann. :) it's on its way here somewhere in the country inside the back of a UPS truck. :)

alright. it's time to go to bed.

for couple months now I have been looking at those headphones as well. Amazon has them for 180 and I'm debating on whether to get it or not. But at 149, that's a steal.

seriously guys. of all the headphones i've owned throughout the years. the 598 is the best bang for the buck and perhaps arguable most underrated. it does 85% of what my $500 HD650 can do. although audio equipment doesn't scale linearly, the 598 is definitely the best performance vs price ratio in my book.

180 was the cheapest I was finding them for the past 3 weeks. Then I decided to check Frys site just to see if they finally carry them. Was I surprised.
Cant wait to see how they compare to the 280s.
I like the 280s but they are closed cans and when the wife calls me it Has to be the first time ...not the 2nd or 3rd. :(
But yea...look on frys site. There they are. 149.00

Well if I want I now have to drive 30 miles to Arlington texas since even though they said they had it in stock I get ther and sure enough they did but it was an open used item. And it was sad. There it was laying next to the TVs and had been used for whatever and was beaten and mangled and dirty. I told the guy I would give him 5 bucks to go toss it in the garbage.

Plus I like that Frys alot better. Much more nicer and cleaner and organized. The one in Dallas is ghetto

I have to say I'm quite impressed.
I was skeptical since I have used the 555's which look exactly like these other than color. And was still skeptical the moment I slipped them on due to the fact that they also feel like the 555's and 570's although a little more comfortable and very lightweight.
The norm is to think something lightweight is cheaply built. But not in this case. Was I surprised when I popped in some music and a DVD movie.
Obviously what's inside is what counts.
These are not only extremely comfy and the "real" leather padding is a plus, but the sound far exceed my HD280 Pros. Which are close cans.
I thought I could only get great sound from a closed can because my open can 570's and 555's lacked the sound quality of the 280's.
But now I have the best of both worlds.

I just went through the angst of deciding on what headphones to get, like maybe for 3 ~ 4 months ... and I decided on the Sennheiser 280 Pro, from Crutchfield for $99
