Post Wireless question
Umm, I had to move my desktop to another room but the router has to stay put where it is. I could buy 100ft of cable and run it around the outside of the house but I dont want to.
My question is, what are my "reliable" options?
Would using a wireless usb adapter be wise, since i would be gaming? And if so, there are many options and price ranges. Would a 10 dollar adapter do as good a job as an 80 dollar one?
Or just get my ladder and hammer out and run that cable.
Suggestions?

Whats your current access point ? Does it support n, ac on 5 ghz? If you want to stick with wireless, get something with n or ac on the 5ghz as I found that to be the best and pretty reliable. None the less, I'm a big advocate of wired. While some of the newer wireless technologies can pass gigabit speeds, nothing is as reliable as wired.

With wireless, you would have the occasional dropped frame, but depending on utilization and saturation, you should be semi ok with gaming. As for the cost, it all depends on which technology you can use. a $10 b/g adapter would provide access but not at the speeds of a $50+ n/ac adapter.
