Post Overclocking the Rampage III Extreme ...
So today I decided to do a little overclocking ... nothing much ... but I needed to get back in the game, as I have not had the time in months to do anything!! ARrghhh!

I just got things cleaned up a bit in the Computer Cabin work area, fired up that nice, sexy-looking R3E and upped the BCLK and CPU ratio to 200 and 21 respectively. Nice overclock right from the get go. Then I looked out the window after I heard what I thought was thunder! :scared-shocked:

Sure as shit ... friggin' lightning and thunder so freakin' loud, it was deafening ... OUCH! I decided to shut down and wait for a while ... good idea, huh?

We experienced some thunder and lightning today as well. First time in 3 weeks we had any rain at all. And its suppose to last for a couple days. Hurray. I was getting cracks in my yard.

I have TWO UPS'es ... but I don't trust our power company any further than I can throw them. I had two mobo's get fried in thunder storms years ago, and that was due to power surges via the phone line. I have DSL and the mobo's got fried because of power going back into the onboard NIC!! Even with a UPS, a surge protector and a filter on the line, it didn't help. The second lost mobo was because I didn't get upstairs quick enough to unplug the cable. I have since learned my lesson. Anytime a thunderstorm comes around, just turn off the power and unplug the DSL modem.

So the lightning and thunder has passed. Restarted the computer and here's the first overclock with not much ado ... but I have to go to bed now. The Boss said it's bedtime!

I am so far behind the times again, Phill. I have undergone some major remodeling upheavals since those benchies were done. I still have the R3E but have unplugged everything till I get the Computer Cabin workbench back together. Should be sometime this week or next. In addition, I have been so busy with our medical clinic's changeover to electronic medical records, that I haven't had the time to even check email form time to time. Today just happens to be a day that I had to do bills and computer stuff, so I got notified that there were some responses to some of these posts. Glad to see you're still around!
