 Naked GTX580
I got my EK FC580 GTX backplate and block today. Acetal+Nickel block (not a fan of plexi) and black aluminum backplate.

Damn, there was 20 screws to remove! Heatsink was pretty "stuck" on too, had to use some force to get it off.

An hour or so later...

Obviously the red is a reflection off my red wall due to hitting it with the flash. Kind of a neat effect. The backplate is slightly reflective, but not shiny by any means.

I'm going to do my best to hold out for the matte black fittings I ordered, but I might just end up using my shiny ones instead. We'll see how impatient I become over the weekend ;)

Saved in my wp folder. I change WP's quite often. That really is a nice shot you picked up, by accident. ;)
And yea, those screws....I think I lost count when removing them. At least you don't have a WB to weigh it down towards the back of the PCB.
Are you gonna keep using the dual slot bracket? I did although the hydro-copper 2 came with a single slot bracket. It just makes for a better support.
Oh and naked pics are against the rules btw.

Leaving the dual slot bracket. Don't need the slot under the GPU anyways.

Got it hooked up, though half-assed job ;) Didn't fully drain and clean my loop. I have some minor changes in mind, so I'll do it properly in a few weeks.

Idle temps are about 30C, after 5 minutes of Kombustor it peaked at 43C. That's about a 40C drop from air cooling! Insane.

Yep it is. (as per cooling).

Your temps on about the same as mine. Although I have mine OC'ed to 926mhz and bumped the voltage it's idling right now at 32C. Last night on COD4 for about an hour it never peaked over 47C. So yea. quite insane.

Dual GTX460s on a single card. One of EVGA's few non-reference designs ;)

And I'm running mine at 1.1V, 900MHz on the core, 1800MHz on the shader and 2200MHz on the RAM.

Good. I learned that you just take it slow and not push "too fast, too soon". I tried doing that and crashed often. So I did it gradually. Don't really know if that was the case but after running a couple days or so it would finally allow me to bump it further. And I'm a t 1.1V. Maybe try bumping the voltage up a little more? I've read that not all cards are so "cooperative".

Honest to god, games play much smoother than my HD5870 Xfire could ever do. Granted the GTX580 won't top my 3DMark scores, but that doesn't matter.

Now that is lovely :D

How do you find the EK block JD?? I'm looking at buying the Aquacomputer blocks in silver...

I was going to ask how are you finding the 580 compared to the 5870's mate?

Post Re: Naked GTX580
Block seems pretty decent, though apparently EK is having some major issues with the nickel plating flaking off. There's a report due out soon of their test results, but the community is in an uproar right now as many people have fucked up blocks.

And the GTX580 is like night and day compared to the HD5870 Xfire. Everything plays so much smoother and in some cases I can run higher settings than before as Xfire doesn't work in like half the games out there.

As much as I hate to admit it, I haven't been too thrilled with my X-fire setup either. It's time to move on to greener pastures ...
