Post HAF X Radiator/s placement
Ok, experiment time.

Considering my Level 10 only holds a dual rad, I'm considering the HAF X,(again) since it holds a triple and I'm cooling, of course both the CPU and GPU. And since I will have the Swiftech 220 on hand, I wonder if it's possible, since I will have both rads, to possibly run them both in the loop and will it really make a difference or just cause clutter. Then it's a matter of finding a spot for it. I've seen where many run a triple with a single in certain cases such as the 800D much I have not found anything so far on the 942.
If anything I'll just run the triple mounted on top inside.

Post Re: HAF X Radiator/s placement
I have looked at a number of cases lately that could be used for mounting two, triple-fan radiators. It seems that many have room either at the top or bottom, but not both. And I'm not so sure that having two radiators would actually be of any benefit looped TOGETHER ... two looped separately (one for CPU and the other for GPU) might be better; then you know what loop is cooling the best. I think I saw a Coolermaster 820? HUGE!! and cheap!!

Not sure, but I thought it just as good if not better than the HAF X.

But then again, I forgot you probably have your eye on this one:

why don't you use the current 220 in your level 10 case and mount the 220 on top of the case, and within the same loop, have another 220 rad in the back outside of the case (swiftech has a mounting bracket that fits outside of the case, mounts directly to the rear fan slot).

doing it all in one loop this way will make more sense, it gives you double the power, in essence it'll be a quad 120mm rad. you just have to make sure the pump will be up to the task, since running dual radiator creates more flow resistance.

I only have one 220 Howard. And it's an MCR 220 QP stack. Has the inlet/outlets on both sides. What about stacking it with a triple rad and having them mounted inside the top of the case? Like say an 800D? Not sure if the 942 would leave clearence for stacked rads.
I don't wanna mount one outside the case since it will be exposed to destructable beings like say...grandchildren.
btw: I'm using this pump.
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swmc12vdcpuw.html

Or this....either in an 800D or 942, mount the triple rad inside top, the 220 rad on bottom, use in same loop. Just an idea. I'm scrapping the Level 10 regardless. Just too crampy.

theoretically you CAN. but practically speaking, if you're mounting it on top inside of the case, it'll be essentially hanging down from the case ceiling. and mounting another triple below the dual creates A LOT of weight. essentially the dual will be holding the triple's weight all with 8 screws. depending on the strength of components involved, i would be VERY wary of that thing falling or something snapping. it might not seem like much when you hold a dual and a triple in your hand, but once you add all the water tubing and bracket, you'll be looking at doubling, if not tripling the weight. not to mention the clearance issue. in my case setup, adding dual fan (one push, and one pull) to my existing triple radiator mounted on top, already creates a lot of space issue. i now can barely mount my CPU socket. so you might wanna think this through very thoroughly, measure every inch and every corner.

I see your point. But I had in mind the opposite, triple above with the double mounted below it. The 220 mounted under the triple. But like I now have come to the idea of the triple on top alone and the double mounted at the bottom of the case, this being the 800D.

i thought your case only has dual on top.

either case, one on top, and one on bottom sounds like a better idea.

my setup has triple on top, and single in the back. and as it is, it's very cramped already. and the CM Cosmos S is a large case.

Would be good if you could make a single thread that actually lists everything computer related that you currently have.

I could of sworn you had the HAF-X and 800D. You sold them? And are you running dual GTX580s? Or did you sell one?

You guys sound confused. ;) But I guess that's my fault.
Yep..I had both but got rid of them. The 800D isn't a good air cooler. But mucho room for watercooling and space to fiddle around with. So that's my ideal choice.
The HAF X 942 is about $80 cheaper. Will hold a triple rad inside top. But then my 220 will be useless. I don't like the side fan on the 942 but I want a window.
So I'm leaning towards the 800D. Screw the price. It has massive space.

What I have is the
MCR/220 QP Stack Rad....

So you've had watercooling all of a week and you already want to throw half of it out. Perfect!

800D is probably your best choice. XSPC or MountainMod cases would be good too but they're rather boxy. If you like that sort of thing though, they'd hold way more radiators than you need ;)

Unless you do some modding though, I believe only a 360 + 120 will fit in the 800D. You could stack the 360/220, one on top of the case and one inside, but that's not the most ideal configuration. Then one radiator is always getting warm air. I would just scrap the 220 and use the RX360 only.

You know how it is...WC'ing is a major money pit. Once you get the bug it's a constant tinker...tinker..tinker. And I just adore tinkering.

Anywho, the 800D easily accomodates both a 360 up top inside and a 220 inside at the bottom. Done seen numerous setups of it. Thing is where to run them both in the loop, better yet, the order. res..rad..rad..pump..cpu..gpu, the ideas seem endless. That's what makes it's appealing. :) The joys of decision making. I could do this 24/7. Dam sure glad Im retiring.

I'll figure it out. Now it's just either red tubing or clear w/ red coolant. Yay,,,more decisions. Goddam right!
JD......I'll show you my idea in a few. Got the pics on my cell from nearby Microcenter, AK's seen them already.

Corsair 800D. Dual DD Rad-Res's. DD CPU wb, Swiftech 320 rad, dual 480's..meh...clear feser 1/2"ID 3/4OD tubing, red feser 1 .but you get the idea. I was too skeered to open the side panel.
This is my ideal blueprint. A little different.

I still say use UV Red tubing if you want red along with UV red fluid (or dye bomb) so that it's red in the res too.

Are you saying if not red coolant then distilled water with the dye bomb? What other addative is required for DW? If any

1. is that your current setup? in the pic?

2. try NOT to mix your own coolant, trust me, i've had 1st hand experience, it can only create more headache for you with alge.

3. i would run the pump before the rad, as oppose to after. the heat added by the pump will be cooled by the rad before entering the CPU/GPU.

No. btw I noticed when looking at that setup at Microcenter that they have the inlet hose on the water flow going into the cpu's outlet of the wb?

Ok. How's Feser 1? Just asking because I have a liter of red. But can get whatever is best.

Any reason why I should purchase this

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/ ... s_id=25389

over this
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swmcqupo3xbl.html

or this? Other than yes, it's a higher capacity rad. Is there really that much of a performance increase considering the price?

RX360 is better built and dual-pass. More surface area = better cooling and higher thermal capacity.

If it'll fit in the case, buy it.
