HT is most useful for video and multi media stuff. I dont think it does much for games..

I think its a little different for sandy bridge though..

Which is ALL I do. So why buy it?
The one and only reason I keep asking and so punctual on it is because it's not like it's a few dollars. It's $100 for practically the same CPU. Except the 2500K lacks it. I don't do any of the above. Just get on it...game...and when I'm done I get out of dodge.

hmmm.......
If the difference is say ~3%, you can attribute it to stock clock speed difference. You can easily overclock the i5 2500k to the same clock speed or faster than a i7 2600k.

.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/287?vs=288

and interesting:

The difference between the Intel® Core™ i7-2600K and the Intel Core i5-2500K really come down to three things.

Intel Core i7-2600K:

-Hyper-Threading (support for a total of 8 threads)

-100MHz, the Intel Core i7-2600K runs at 3.4GHz while the Intel Core i5-2500K runs at 3.3GHz.

Intel Core i5-2500K:

-About $100 less expensive then the Intel Core i7-2600K

Now for gaming understand that very few games will take advantage of more than 3 threads. So hyper-threading doesn’t have much value in the gaming environment for the Intel Core i7-2600K.

Wow ... it's nice to know how to copy and paste, is it not?

In a nutshell, you've talked your way out of a i7-2600K, huh?

But of course, that was intentional to get a point across. Only one of a million articles I've seen. ;)

Looks good. Should be fun!

And I think Ivy should drop into that board, but I guess we'll see. Rumour has it Ivy will show on LGA1155 before LGA2011.

One last question before I decide:
So be honest on this. Am I wasting my time, effort and money moving from 1366 (X58)to 1155 (Z68)? Should I just wait. Am I just buying new tech? I thought I would get your opinions on this. I'm having a tough time hitting the submit button. What am I gonna get by draining my loop, gutting my PC and reformatting other than something 'newer"?
Yes I know it's up to me...but this time it's going to be up to you guys because I value your opinions.

Your doing what you always do :) Planning on getting something and then not getting it!!

Like I said, just stick with what you got until the newer ones come out :) Then buy the better one if you want it and get Sandy Bridge if you dont :)

Newegg's shipping is so wicked it should be illegal. It's scheduled to get here tomorrow. That's 2 days and I did 3 day shipping. You don't count Sundays. I'm assuming it's because it's coming from Memphis. They must have a warehouse there?
