Now when I saw this, I thought, "How in the world can that be?" Well, boys and girls, clink on the link and be surprised!! :ugeek:

LGA2011 motherboards could support LGA1366 processors!!

Also take it from the horse's mouth HERE

Well, seeing as how you only have an i7 920 Bloomfield ... you wouldn't be seeing real world improvement on a backwards compatible LGA2011 mobo. Now for those that have say the i7 965; 970; or even 980 Bloomfield processors, they might just want to see if it will work. Mind you that that article from X-bit Labs was basically stating that Intel had some thoughts on allowing backwards compatibility ... not that they would actually include it. Me, I don't think I would try it. If I get an Ivy Bridge mobo, I want an Ivy Bridge processor ... :handgestures-thumbup:

Judging by the comments, it sounds like X79 can be paired with a LGA1366 socket or a LGA2011 socket.

Regardless, I doubt LGA1366 CPUs will drop into LGA2011 boards. This simply isn't "the Intel way".

What I'm saying is should I just wait for the LGA2011 platform alltogether. new Mobo and CPU instead of getting a Z68---i7-2600K. No way would I attempt to put an i7-920 in that new board...working or not

Depends how much money you have? :P

LGA2011 (X79) will definitely be more expensive than LGA1155 (Z68).

Personally, I don't see the reason why you'd need anything faster than a 4GHz quad-core, hyper-threaded CPU for gaming purposes.

Yea I suppose your'e right. All I do is game and spawn kill. :shifty:

I guess I'll stick to my guns and try the Z68 and see how I like it. Then when LGA2011 and I see everyone else in here with one I'll get jealous and well.........just get one by god!
