Post Re: Thinking about AMD
I second JDrom this is a drastic change of the structure like 10 years ago.

I uploaded a picture of what AMD calls a MODULE within the module are two integer units (for those who don't know means full numbers (no , or .) and processes these. AMD refers to these as the CORES which means you can have multiple CORES in a MODULE. These cores combine their allocation for FLOATING POINT units. This is as simple as I can bring it, though 'combine' and 'allocation' may be wrong words to chose,

It has been since the Athlon processors since AMD has attempted to revolutionize the industry and it will bring a few confusions with it.
1. Intel will probably refer to AMD's 8-core processors as 4-cores.
2. The efficiency of this structures defers more between programs since some are heavier in Floating point then in Integers.

I doubt that...they will want to be able to show their 6 core processors beating AMD's "8 core" processor. They would hate for it to look the other way...AMD's quad beating their hex.

Looks like Bulldozer should be out next week!

TigerDirect "accidentally" listed them yesterday it seems: http://www.fudzilla.com/processors/item ... in-the-usa

So Steve, you bought a Z68 + i7 2600k, and now Bulldozer will arrive before you even build it ;)

Tis ok...I'm still building it next month. Plus it gives me a chance to read up on first hand benchmark reviews once they hit. It will be my daughters PC.
It will be a mid range build with maybe a GTX 460 or ATI 5000 series

What if Bulldozer is faster than your Sandy Bridge? Then you'll swap with your daughter? :P
