 Intel's X79 chipset details leaked!
Though it wasn't me who leaked them, I can tell you from what I've read, it would make sense to forgo the current Sandy Bridge proc (1155) and just wait it out for the Super-charged Sandy Bridge-E processors (LGA2011) and then pair it up with the new X79 chipset.

Yes but if you want something new, and something now, 1156 with K-series CPU is perfect ;)

However, do note the date of this "leak". April 1.

The LGA2011 processors are going to be beasts, but they are 32nm and shortly after their launch Ivy Bridge 22nm CPUs come to the LGA1155 platform. Intel is annoying me...the high end should lead the charge. I'm not going to pay a huge premium for LGA2011 when for half the price Ivy Bridge processors will be extremely competative.

Avid, you expressed the same sentiment I've had with Intel for some time now. And why release the Sandy Bridge-E processor so close the Ivy Bridge CPUs? It doesn't make any sense. I remember not too long ago when the Core 2Duo was launched and it was happy days for OC-ers the world over. Everyone believed that Intel was going to be overly friendly to the enthusiast crowd forever. Now there's this restriction on the i5 and i3 processors that just drains the excitement totally. You HAVE to go with the i7 2600k processor to have any fun, and I really believe that there's not a top-notch mobo (P/H67 chipset) out there (yet) that makes it a must-have deal ATM.

I would really like to try one, but with the launch of the LGA2011 processors and the X79 chipset just looming on the horizon, I personally can't justify a foray into the Sandy Bridge arena right now ... :snooty:

Agree with you Jeff, I think the world needs a few more EVGA Classifieds for the P67 chipset :) They led the way with the i7 I think they should do the same for the P67 and hopefully the new whatever it is :)

I don't think EVGA or ASUS or even Gigabyte will bring anything to the table in the form of an exotic mobo for the P/H67 chipset. Look for something more favorable for the X79 chipset though. But the Japan earthquake and tsunami has made a go of things for the computer industry. Shortages and delays in getting materials will cause prices to soar. Already there's talk of ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI raising their prices due to the disaster. It doesn't look good. I can only imagine what a LGA2011 motherboard will cost at the end of this year. Expect to see all mobo prices rise over $100~$150 across the board. That's probably going to include the low-end through mid range motherboards as well ... :(

In general, everything is going to cost more. I am not sure what price range the LGA2011 processors will be when they are released, but I'll just about bet they'll be quite spendy...

Nawwww ... it's a long and winding road to perdition with these taxes ... I do a little, grumble a little and then post a little. It helps me keep what little sanity I have left. :liar:

Gigabyte has it's usual UD5 and UD7

ASUS has it's usual Maximus

Along with the Sabertooth
http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=Z ... templete=2

And the standard "Deluxe"
http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=F ... templete=2

All very feature rich boards IMO which should offer decent overclocking due to digital VRMs on most boards now.

I'm waiting patiently.
