Post A10-6700 or A10-6800K ?
I got my hands on a couple xbox 360 controllers, with a dead xbox i scrapped, so I've decided to upgrade my media center so that i can do some casual gaming on it here and there. need for speed, ridge racer, stuff I don't mind using a controller for in the comfort of my couch

Question is, do i go for the A10-6700 or the A10-6800K

I'm liking the A10-6700 because its rated 65w, which is only 20w higher than the current Athlon X2 5050e, but doesn't require a discrete graphics card which probably makes up the different in overall system power draw

But the A10-6800K is more readily available at a difference of 3-4$, and I'm figuring I can just as easily limit the cpu multiplier to keep the temps down, and possibly overclock the graphics core slightly to keep it in range, though I can do the same with the A10-6700 realistically, lower multipler and higher gpu frequency

now unless the 6700's binned for lower wattage, then I dunno?

thoughts?

Don't you still want discrete graphics? No way the APU's are going to have enough power to run 1080p with any eye-candy. Maybe you'll get medium-low settings, but who wants that? Might as well just use a XBOX360 or PS3.

actually, my TV is 720p, and from what i've been finding across the reviews, is that I should be able to get playable framerates at that res without any issue

and it's a low profile system, using the Antec Microfusion, so it seems the best discrete graphics i can get in a low profile card, is a radeon 7750, which seems to be roughly the same.

though I have been wondering if i could hybrid crossfire a 7750 to get better performance.

but honestly, it's for leisure, not serious gaming, something i can veg into on the couch when im bored. i'm not focused on wicked awesome high detail and performance here, i'm just looking for good enough for entertainment, and the APU's seem like the best well rounded solution to cover all the bases of this system which are low power, low heat, low profile, and smooth performance

lets not worry about graphics performance, and focus on the original question. does it really matter which CPU i get?
